When did you first start CrossFitting?: June 2014
What is your favorite movement? Favorite workout? Cleans, snatches, overhead squats, pistols and handstand walks.
What is your least favorite movement? Least favorite workout? Double unders, push-ups and thrusters.
Tell us about your sports & fitness background: I played sports including high school and AAU basketball and softball. I also grew up playing sand volleyball, tennis and competitive swim and dive. I have recently developed interest in running 5ks and obstacle runs.
How did you first get exposed to CrossFit? Do you remember your first WOD? How did it go? I was first exposed to CrossFit by my brother who started a few months before me. Once I saw how fun it was, I knew I was really going to enjoy it. I don’t remember my first workout… however, I do remember that it was a humbling experience. (Ha ha)
What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting CrossFit? Though I have a strong sports background, before CrossFit, I had never done any heavy lifting. In just five months, I have reached personal records that I never knew would be possible. My overall endurance has also improved considerably.
What impact has CrossFit had on your life? It is hard to find competitive sports leagues for my age range. CrossFit gives me the opportunity to compete again and constantly gives me new challenges to strive for. I always found it hard to workout at a regular gym because it seemed to be the same boring routines. The CrossFit workouts are so diverse that it continuously holds my interest.
What is your favorite CrossFit moment? My favorite moments are participating in competitions with teammates from Bull City CrossFit.
What is your advice for people just getting started or thinking about starting CrossFit? CrossFit can come off as a bit intimidating. The most comforting thing when starting CrossFit for me was the family-like atmosphere. Everyone is so encouraging and the trainers provide you with individual attention that will insure your success. One thing to always remember is to work at your own pace and you will be surprised at how quickly your skill level will develop.
What are your hobbies, interests, and/or talents outside of CrossFit? Some of my hobbies include watching sports, spending time with family, hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles, hiking, horseback riding and basically anything outdoors and active. I also enjoy pina coladas and getting caught in the rain…
