What is your least favorite movement? Least favorite workout? Burpees & Kipping/”Deck of Cards”

jean1Tell us about your sports & fitness background: I have been actively working out for the past 10 years off and on; doing weights, kettlebells, yoga and fitness classes.

How did you first get exposed to CrossFit? Do you remember your first WOD? How did it go? My oldest son does CrossFit at CrossFit Durham and I kept hearing him rave about the workouts. So, I thought I would try it.

I don’t remember the name or all the elements of my first WOD, but I do recall a 400 meter run. That was very challenging!

What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting CrossFit? I have lost 10% of my body weight, while toning up and gaining muscle. My stamina has increased as well.

What impact has CrossFit had on your life? CrossFit has given me confidence to try new things and I feel remarkably better and healthier.

What is your favorite Bull City CrossFit moment? When I could dead lift my body weight! I have since increased that by 25 pounds!

jean3What is your advice for people just getting started or thinking about starting CrossFit? Just TRY it! I think you would be amazed at what you can do. You will enjoy Jack’s and the other coaches instruction, getting to know others and enjoy the support and friendly competiveness of working out in a group setting. Accomplishing your goals, is what is important, not what you think others expect of you. I have been extremely impressed with Jack’s coaching, personal instruction and enthusiasm. Out of all the workout venues I have tried this has been by far my favorite! Plus, you meet so many nice, supportive people that have the same goals as you. It’s an awesome strength and cardio workout. You leave feeling like you’ve had a fabulous and challenging workout plus have a great sense of achievement. I can’t believe the progress I have made since the beginning – lifting greater weights and now being able to do burpees much better.

What are your hobbies, interests, and/or talents outside of CrossFit? Horseback riding, traveling, canoeing, skiing and snowboading.
