We’re excited to announce that we will be hosting an awesome Gymnastics Seminar with CrossFit Trainer and former D-1 Gymnast, Allison Betof this November!
This 2-hour course is designed to help you develop the strength and technique needed for most basic CrossFit Gymnastics movements including pullups, toes-to-bar, handstands, and the beginnings of a Muscle Up. We will focus on shoulder strength and flexibility and work our way into kipping drills to master the basic gymnastics kip and introduce the butterfly kip. As appropriate, you will have a chance to apply these skills to pullups and T2B.
The next section of the course will focus on handstands. We will start with technique practice against a wall and then progress to freestanding handstand practice. You will learn how to kick up and come down safely and how to effectively spot each other through the movement.
We will spend the third section of the course discussing introductory drills for the Muscle Up- this is not meant for people who are seriously practicing muscle ups but instead to introduce you to the movement and how to work through progressions safely. Last, we will go through a short Gymnastics WOD based on the principles of the course which will test (and build) your midline stability, an essential component of any CrossFit Gymnastics movement.
